Waves for Change – Surf Therapy for Violent Communities

Help us upgrade our Monwabisi Safe-Hub

upgrade monwabisi safe hub

Waves for Change is working with Breadline Africa to upgrade our safe hub at Monwabisi Beach. Monwabisi is the local beachfront for khayelitsha township, one of South Africa’s largest and most violent communities.

Since 2011, W4C has been running surf therapy programmes at Monwabisi to connect at-risk youth to emotional support and surf therapy programmes. Each year we’ve been able to develop our small safe hub where kids change, get a home cooked meal and also complete counselling programmes.

This year we’re looking to upgrade our site to provide shelter, board repair facilities, office space for our local staff and private changing and storage facilities for the 200 kids who use the space each week. Upgrading will help us provide more shelter and safety to more youth than ever before.

Our target is 100,000 ZAR. Every little helps, so give direct using one of the secure links below
